2011/2012 Season

Dates & Times

  • The Competitive Showcase is confirmed for Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 6:30pm

    • NOTE: All regular classes will be cancelled & rescheduled for Friday, February 24, 2012

Location

  • The 2011/2012 Competitive Showcase will be held at the Milton Centre for the Arts, located at 1010 Main Street East, Milton, ON L9T 6H7

Schedule

  • A Competitive Showcase Info Package will be available for pick-up by early-February

Ticket Info

  • Tickets go on sale in early-February

Dancer/Parent Info

  • All competitive dancers will perform their routines at the competitive showcase in full costume & make-up

  • Attendance of the competitive showcase is mandatory to participate in the competitive program

  • The competitive showcase prepares our competitive dancers for competitions by giving them the opportunity to perform their routines in front of a live audience.

  • The showcase will be video recorded so that the students & instructors can review their routines & perfect them before competitions begin

  • Arrival at the theatre:

    • All dancers must be at the theatre 1 hour before show time to get organized, dressed, warmed-up, etc.

  • Getting ready:

    • DO NOT wear your costume to the theatre, as it may get dirty and/or damaged. 

    • You can have your hair done, your make-up on, your tights on under your clothes & then change into your costume at the theatre’s dressing rooms. 

    • DO NOT wear non-competitive jewellery, and/or nail/toe polish.

    • Be sure to bring all your costumes, make-up, jewellery, other accessories, tights, hair stuff, etc. to the theatre.  Attached is a routine specific tights/shoes/accessories list.

    • Dressing rooms will be assigned & posted.

    • Parents are permitted in the dressing rooms to assist their child but will not be permitted in the backstage area.

    • There will be instructors & assistants during the show that will be looking after our dancers.

  • Quick Changes:

    • A quick change is considered 3 routines or less to change

    • There will be instructors & assistants during the show that will be looking after our dancers.

    • I have also asked our inter & senior dancers who do not have quick changes to help others as well

    • Parents – you do not need to worry about your child’s quick changes – you can sit back & enjoy the show!

    • Dancers – it is your responsibility to have your required costume, tights, shoes, hair stuff, accessories, etc. prepared backstage in the quick change area.

    • Only quick changes are done off Stage Right, not in the dressing rooms

    • We have gone through the quick-change system with the dancers

  • Watching the show:

    • The show is approximately 2.50 hours in length, including the 20 minute intermission.

    • All audience patrons (including dancers who may be able to watch the show) must purchase a ticket.

    • Dancers may watch the show after they have danced all their routines provided that they have a ticket. 

    • Dancers are not permitted to enter the auditorium in their costume.

    • Parents are permitted in the dressing rooms to assist their child but will not be permitted in the backstage area.

    • Video taping and/or photography is prohibited during the show.  The show will be videotaped by a professional for class use only.

Volunteers

  • If you or anyone you know would like to volunteer their time for our competitive showcase, please inform the studio office

  • We need the following positions:

    • 4 Ushers

      • In charge of the doors, handing out programs, seating people, etc.

      • Ushers need to be at least 16 years old

    • 2-4 Backstage Assistants

      • Helping students, bringing groups to & from backstage, etc.

  • All volunteers must be at the theatre by 45 minutes before show time on Showcase day so we can get organized
