About the Recreational Program

• Designed for students ages 2^1/2 & up, the recreational program is an exciting & rewarding way to learn dance as well as great way to keep fit and meet new friends

• Students in the recreational program gain confidence, self-esteem, technique, coordination, musicality, creativity, social skills, and discipline

• Classes are taught in a fun & supportive environment by certified instructors

• Regular attendance, a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and being a team player are key components to learning and progression.

• Students will be placed in a level that is best suited to their abilities & goals

• Each class will perform a routine choreographed by their instructor with music & costumes in our annual year-end recital.  We encourage all of our students to participate in the annual year-end recital so they can present their routines in front of a live audience to further their dance skills, confidence and self-esteem.

• We currently offer recreational classes in Acro, Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz, and Tap

• Class levels are split into Pre-School (ages 2^1/2-4), Beginner (ages 5-8), Pre-Teen (ages 9-12), and Teen (13+).  NOTE: Class levels are subject to being combined and/or cancelled based on student enrolment and/or instructor availability.

Costume Fees

• Recreational costumes are either ordered through costume catalogues, purchased at regular shopping stores, or designed by IVDA & custom-made.

• Costume prices will vary based on age, level, and/or catalogued versus custom-made. 

• Every effort will be made to keep costume prices reasonable.

• A costume deposit is required for each class the student is registered for:

  • $75.00 deposit per costume

  • Deposit required in November

  • Costume deposits are non-refundable after December as costumes have been ordered

• Costume balances are due in May

Dress Rehearsal

• Every recreational routine will rehearse is in full costume & make-up.
• Attendance of the dress rehearsal is mandatory to participate in the year-end recital.

Recital

• Every recreational routine will perform at our annual year-end recital.
